The Parish Council wishes to announce that Mrs. Veronica Ward has retired from the Parish Council having served on the Council for over fourteen years, and as Chairman since 2016.

As many villagers will remember, Veronica played a vital role on the Council during the time that the village faced the prospect of a wind farm just off the Welsh Lane. Veronica took on the challenges (which included a huge personal contribution of effort) and along with the Helmdon, Stuchbury and Greatworth Windfarm Action Group, succeeded in stopping the matter. Having fought a long winded (excuse the pun) fight to stop that, Greatworth then became a target for HS2 in virtually the same location and Veronica led the Council in a new battle to protect the Parish from the detrimental effects of HS2 as much as possible.

Veronica has done a sterling job as Chairman and is well respected by those serving on the Parish Council, but we also respect that the time will come for everyone to have to make the decision to retire.

We hope that everyone will join us in thanking Veronica hugely for her time on the Council and hope that she will now find time for other things she would like to do with her time.
